3 minutes for positivity
Updated 11/2021
This is a series of short fluency exercises. They are designed to build mindfulness, gratitude and positive emotions.
There are 16 items. Many schools have 15 or 16 week semester. You might want to start each class with one item. It starts each class with positive energy. That gives students a good frame of mind to start the class.
In my own classes, I make a copy for each student. Then I just tell them which we will use on a given day.
There is also a "Take it deeper" option that encourages follow-up questions. These both help the learners to practice the discourse strategy of using questions to keep a conversation going, they also allow the first speaker to remember the situation more clearly and experience the positive emotion more deeply.
