Bookshelf, page 1 A few books you might want to check out.
On my previous website, I tried to list nearly everything. I think it might be more useful to list fewer books, but those that I find the most useful, and a couple that people are asking about. I'm linking the title to Amazon.com because you can read reviews of other readers there.
These three books should be at the top of your reading list.
I've added info. on new books on pages 2 and 3 (Jan, 2014)

Flourish by Martin Seligman. He is one of the founders of the positive psychology movement. This is a landmark book. I think of it as sort of the start of "Well-being 2.0". He moves beyond happiness (positive emotion) to put it in the larger picture of well-being. Among other things, he looks specifically at how we can use the ideas as educators.
See the "Flourishing" section of this website for more.
If you are new to positive psychology, this book would be a good place to start.

Positivity by Barbara Fredrickson. Seligman calls Fredrickson "the genius of the positive psychology" movement. She has created the "broaden and build" theory that looks at what happens as we process positive emotion. On the "positivity" page of this website, there is more on her work. Note that since this was published, the 1:3 ratio of negative/positive emotion has be found to be statistically invalid. But the rest of Fredridckson's "Broaden and Build" Theory still stands.
The How of Happiness by Sonja Lyubomirsky. She is the UC-Riverside researcher whose work I have use and the basis of the initial pages of this website. In this important book, she expands her initial list of 8 behaviors to 12, and looks at practical ways to practice each.
