Monk for a month
In the summer of 2010, I took part in a wonderful program called "Monk for a month." It took place in a temple in Fang, Thailand, very near the border with Burma.
In Thailand, nearly every male becomes a monk for at least a short period of time. The Monk for a month program, lets foreigners experience the same think. They teach the dhamma (The Teachings on the Buddha) in English. There is also a lot of meditation, study and chanting.
_The program is in a regular Thai temple. Only four foreigners are allowed on the program at the same time as they don't want the foreigners to change the atmosphere of the temple. People can be part of the program from a few days to a month. The TempleStay program at the temple I went to is HERE and their Facebooks page is HERE. Information about the Monk for a Month program here. They now do programs in Tibetian India.
